Double Take Studio's My Day ♥

Me && my fiance had some pictures done together at a studio called double take in Manchester, so i thought i would give you my honest review for others who plan to go there in the future, so you know what your getting yourself in for...
They are a company based in Manchester and there aim is to give you a day to remember....

When I booked it -
They rang me up last Friday because a friend of mine had refereed me, and i think they have to get in touch with you for you to receive a free photo shoot...
If you want one, you have to pay.... and prices are a lil steep...
So anyway the guy who rang me said i had to book an appointment by the 17th June to receive the 2 free prints promotion, so its a freebie why not I thought!!!
I had to pay a booking fee of £7.50 to secure this appointment, i didn't know what day me and my fiance would be free so i picked a Friday, he said you could change the days which i did no problem....

It was only afterwards in the terms and conditions i read it tells you, if you cancel in less that 8 days which my photo shoot was it costs £125, where is the fairness in that, i was not told that on the phone, i was told I'd be charged that if i didn't turn up... and i very nearly did cancel....

On The Day - The website says that my day involves the following:

Once you’ve arrived at the studio and checked in at reception, you’ll be taken into one of our lounge areas where you can relax while you choose your make-up and photography preferences (unless you’ve already done this online, in which case you can just take it easy!).

What really happened,
My appointment was moved forward, because they were behind schedule, i arrived at reception to a full waiting room, no sign or relaxation, the place was as busy as anything, even me and my fiance couldn't get a seat together, were were given form to fill out while we were rushed as they were behind.
I was barely sat down before they asked me for my hair and makeup to be done....
No sign of taking it easy, i didn't even fill out the form properly..

The Next Bit Says -

You’ll be taken through to hair and make-up where our professional team will give you a skin-revitalising mini facial, a blissful hand massage, apply your make-up and style your hair. We only use top-brand products and you can ask your make-up artist will for a personal make-up planner so you can recreate the look at home.

What really happened
To be honest i had no problems with this, the hair and make up team were brilliant and i loved my look, they did a brill job, the promised my fiance would get his hair done and would have some moisturiser put on his face to make him look a lil better....
But they didn't, after i had my hair and makeup done they showed him in and asked him how he wanted his hair, they gave him the gel and asked him to do it himself....
If that was me i would've been miffed , my fiance was not happy about this, he was getting pictures with me, surely he should of got better treatment??

Then The Photo shoot

When you’re done being pampered and preened, and you’re looking fantastic, you’ll be ready to get changed into your outfits and step out under the spotlights for your photo shoot! You’ll be guided round our super stylish sets by one of our professional photographers. You’ll get changed two or three times and your photographer will help you to relax in front of the camera so that when you’re done you’ll be posing like a pro!

The photographer wasn't to bad, he was ok, but he seemed abit moody with my direction, i get my left and rights wrong and it was as though he was getting mad at me, this annoyed me after about 10 minutes and i began to enjoy it less, we had 3 outfit changes, the first was the longest, the second average and the third was just rushed, i didn't have as long as i did last time i had my pictures done here, your roughly meant to get about 45 minutes with the photographer, we got about half an hour....
I didn't enjoy it as much as last time....

My Makeup && Hair was lovely:

Then the waiting - The website says

This is where it gets even more exciting! You’ve done all the hard work and now you can sit back and relax with more drinks and snacks. While you’re chilling out in reception, our creative retouchers will be working their magic on your photographs, creating stunning artworks to make you look incredible.

After your photoshoot, while we’re getting your images ready for your viewing session, you’ll be able to recommend your friends for a DoubleTake makeover and photoshoot of their own. Let us know who you think will like the experience and we’ll do the rest, giving them the opportunity to have the same pampering, makeover and photoshoot that you’ve just had! What’s more, we’ll give you a fabulous goodie bag full of treats to say thanks for recommending us!

What really happened -
After asking if we wanted a cig, (we don't smoke) we were shown upstairs, the girl's friendliness just felt fake, we had to wait in a waiting room and we got put in a corner waaaay out the way of everyone,
The refreshments, there was hardly any, a few cakes and milkway bars, nothing like how they make it sound...
We did refer 65 people and got some freebies for doing that, so its fair enough, but we waited an hour and a half to see our pics even though we were told we would be waiting 50 minutes, no one asked us if we were ok and it wasn't very helpful at all....

Then finally - The Pictures Themselves

Your viewing consultant will take you through to your viewing room where all your best shots will be displayed on a huge flat-screen TV. You can browse your shots in a stunning slideshow and take a look at the amazing artwork our creative retouching team have put together for you. Your viewing consultant will be able to talk you through our packages so you can purchase all the images you love.

What really happened-
The viewing was abit rushed, i wish i had longer to look at the pictures, they were nothing out of the ordinary, a few were put into montage, but i was pretty disappointed the pictures, a few of me and my fiance were lovely, and of course we picked our two free pictures....
Apparently you are not obligated to buy the pictures, but the lady tried to puuuuush!!
and prices are ridiculous, £70 per print and £120 for one picture on a disk..
she was offering us packages up to £3,000...
what was more annoying was the fact we picked our free ones after deciding we didn't want to spend that amount.....
We ended up paying £28.00
To get our free pics a decent size we had to pay £10 each to get 6 x12 and there was an £8.00 handling fee they kept hush hush about...
Last time i came i did the double money offer, you can double up to £500 and have £1000 to spend, i doubled £110 and got £220 to spend and i ended up buying another picture, back then it was a mistake because i don't really like the pics now....
Three months later they rang me and offered me all 55/60 pictures for £60 and said they were having a clear out...
funny thing, they rang my friend that night also!!!
I didn't buy them, but image if i had and payed all that money, so I'm hoping they ring back in 3 months time and do the same again cause for the price i would of got all...

My Overall Experience

I personally would not come here again, especially if i was paying, i felt a little let down for my reasons,
Your not treated individually like i think you should be for the price if i was paying, the girls are to nice, its to fake, i didn't like it, the prices are to steep and i think the service when it came to waiting should have been dealt with better...
The best part about the shoot was getting my hair and make up done for free and of course getting pictures with my fiance and getting to spend time with him, I'm glad we came out with two decent pictures which I'll show when they arrive....
This review is not to tell anyone not to go, but simply why i felt let down and will not be going again.
My advice, look around for places with better deals first, as you can get some pictures done better for fraction of the price...
